Oranges Nutrition
Oranges are well known for their high vitamin C content. This is great for supporting the immune system and fighting off coughs and colds. Oranges also contain Vitamin A which is a vitamin vital for the health of our eyes, organs, immune system and much more. Both Vitamin C and A both have strong antioxidant properties too. Antioxidants reduce oxidative stress (that contributes to disease).
Oranges also contain the B vitamins Thiamin (B1), which is used by nearly every single cell in the body and Folate (B9) which is needed for the formation of DNA and RNA and the formation of red blood cells.
Honeybush Healing Powers
Our orange and coconut water kefir contains honeybush which has many health benefits of its own. It contains high amounts of phenolic compounds that play a role in protecting the immune system from oxidative stress that can damage cells. These phenolic compounds also have been shown to down regulate the body’s inflammatory response and so could help prevent inflammatory driven diseases.
Coconuts Nutrition
Coconuts are so highly nutritious and rich in minerals and fibre. They contain loads of iron, magnesium, manganese, zinc, copper, selenium, potassium, calcium and phosphorus. Vitamins C, E, B1, B3, B5 and B6.
As coconuts contain so many nutrients, i’ll just talk about the top few…
Manganese - is essential to bone health. It is needed for bone development and maintenance. It works with calcium, zinc and copper to support bone mineral density. It is also an important part of the formation and functioning of superoxide dismutase (SOD), which is one of the most powerful antioxidants in the body. SOD also helps reduce inflammation in the body.
Potassium helps regulate the heartbeat and blood pressure. It regulates fluid balance in the body, muscle contraction and nerve signals.
Phosphorus is an important mineral for the skeletal system and for healthy teeth!
